"For
many years I have dreamed of being part of a pop band. In 2008, I
made that dream come true and it has been a blast. My career has afforded
me the ability to put together a top-notch group of some of the finest
musicians around. Almost every player also sings and we can make some
wonderful music together. It has been thrilling for me to be the center
of such beautiful harmony. I am humbled and honored to be part of
The Other Side Of Me Band." |

The
EDER-tors of THE VOICE spoke with the members of The Other Side Of Me
Band and asked them to tell us about their favorite songs from the show
and what makes performing with Linda and their fellow musicians special
for them.

"For
me, the most special aspect of performing with Linda is being able
to 'jam' to the new songs we worked so hard on together!
My
favorite song is 'Make Today Beautiful.' Linda and I really worked
hard on getting this song right. We did several re-writes and created
many melodic changes. Linda's instincts, vocal execution and style
really come through on this song. I love the vibe of the music and
power of the lyrics. I'm really proud of the work we did on this
song."

"Definitely
the best part of performing with Linda is hearing her sing the songs
I've written, but also being across the stage from Billy and enjoying
the few moments in the show when we make eye contact. It just reminds
me of the friendship I've developed with him and the incredible
journey we've both been on making this record and performing together
with Linda.
I'd
have to say that I really like 'Both Sides Now.' That song is one
of my favorite moments in the show. I still can't believe Linda
picked me to do it with her. I almost have to pinch myself and ask
myself if it's real. Just to be able to sing a duet with a voice
like Linda's is something I will never forget."

"The
first thing that hits me is Linda's personality. It goes without
saying that she is so incredibly talented. She's a total joy and
it is reflected in the people that surround her in the band. She
always has such fantastic bands, and because she's such a cool person,
people end up staying in her band for years. She's very comfortable
to be around, just like what you see on stage. Everyone in the band
has a great sense of humor. I think what is most special is that
Linda is so generous, always thinking of others. When planning her
shows, she tries to make sure everyone is comfortable. I wish everyone
could be at rehearsals because that's when the band gets loose and
really jokes around.
The first song I heard from the CD was 'Ghost.' I was blown away
by the direction change. I guess I'm partial to that song, but truly
I really don't have a favorite song. That's a good thing. I think
it's a really strong CD, and I love the concert set we've put together.
Linda and Billy have worked incredibly hard, and it shows when you
listen to the CD. It's a joy to listen to Linda sing. She chose
the material well. What a gift to have Shaun as a writer and now
singing in the band. It's all just a real pleasure. I feel honored
to be part of the band."

"Before
the last show we played, Billy asked me about playing a keyboard
part instead of some other instrument we had rehearsed - presumably
violin. It felt like he probably was just musing about the possibility
of making that change sometime in the future, but I expressed that
I would be willing to do that new thing during that show without
trying it in a rehearsal. I found it quite fun that he was open
to that and I played a part during that show that I had never tried
before. I wish all the shows with Linda and The Other Side Of Me
Band could have a little surprise like that!
I really like 'Ghost.' It is hard to articulate why I like this
song because it's an emotional reaction, but when I hear the writing,
the way it's put together, it surprises me."

"I'm
enjoying how Linda's stepped up to the considerable challenge of
doing a brand new show in a completely different genre. It's a bold
move. The special part of the playing experience is getting beyond
the mechanics of the show and making music; getting beyond the recording
and experiencing the collective potential of some deeply talented
people.
I'd probably say my favorite song is 'Nice Day For Flying.' It's
a really good song, with a fun groove, a good hook, and a clever
tongue-in-cheek lyric. And Linda wrote it!"

"Linda
is a great singer and a very easy person to be with and to work for.
I always enjoy how beautifully in tune her singing is.
I like 'Lifted' for its gospel feeling, 'Waiting For The Fall' for
its Beatle-y shuffle, and 'They Are The Roses' for its anthemic chorus.
I also like Linda's arrangement of 'Both Sides Now' very much."

"I
think the most special thing about playing with Linda is hearing
that voice! As a sideman, that's what you always look for, someone
who's a great performer, and can deliver the song every time. You
have a much better chance of making everything sound good when that's
happening, and with Linda it always is. I think she's got a real
connection to the new music and it comes across on stage. Also,
the other musicians are all such amazing players and singers, you
couldn't ask for a better band.
I'm really not sure about a favorite song yet. I've only done a
few shows, so I'm just trying to make sure I get through the show
in one piece!"
