It
hardly seems possible that it has been one year since the successful
world premiere of CAMILLE CLAUDEL at The Norma Terris Theatre in
Chester, Connecticut. At that time, Linda's fans watched in awe
as she completely threw herself into this demanding role and actually
became Camille at each and every performance. It was very evident
to all those in attendance on those magical days in August and September
of 2003 that Linda was passionate about bringing the life of Camille
Claudel to the stage. Throughout the year since her last performance
on stage in Connecticut, she has kept this amazing character alive
in concerts all across the country by including some memorable and
wonderfully expressive musical numbers from the show. The fans are
hoping that CAMILLE CLAUDEL will be well-received when it is presented
at The National Alliance for Musical Theatre's Annual Festival of
New Musicals during its Fall Conference in New York City on October
3rd and 4th.
As
always, Linda is very grateful to her fans for their support and
has once again graciously written a letter for THE VOICE. You can
read Linda's latest letter on the Home Page.
The
person who is responsible for bringing Linda to theatres all around
the country is David Hart. He has been
Linda's friend and agent for many years and works tirelessly to
see that Linda performs in many different venues. When you read
his interview, you will be amazed by the career he has had in various
aspects of the music business.
Calling
all single young ladies! As Linda has mentioned at some of her concerts,
her very talented and handsome keyboardist, Billy
Stein, is the only unattached member of her band. Although he
comes from a very musical family, you'll be surprised to read about
the other career path he almost chose instead of music.
First
(and second and third) there were Linda's truly unforgettable concerts
at Carnegie Hall where she performed to sold out houses. February
7, 2004 brought an appearance at Radio City
Music Hall with Keith Lockhart and The Boston Pops and what a magical
evening it was!
John
Edward is a huge fan and good friend of Linda's. Recognizing
the healing power of music, he asked Linda to perform for his television
show. He was very excited to be able to share with Linda's fans
some insight into his life and career, and you'll never believe
how he first met her!
For
the seventh straight year, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS has
sponsored an auction of Broadway Bears to raise money for AIDS-related
causes. The auction of 2004 saw the debut of Lucy
Bear from JEKYLL & HYDE.
On
November 8, 2003 Linda's fans came together in Connecticut to share
an evening of music and skating at Katarina
Witt's Ice Show. Linda, as well as other musical guests, lent
their voices to a spectacular evening of skating.
Those
fans who have followed Linda's career throughout the years have
witnessed a metamorphosis of Linda's Style.
This has been evident in her hairstyles- going from short to long,
longer, very long and back to short- and from brunette to blonde,
red and back to brunette. You'll enjoy seeing Linda's many looks.
Congratulations
to Frank Wildhorn on the very successful premiere of the new JEKYLL
& HYDE Concert at the Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center
in June. We'd like to also send our best wishes to Frank on his
latest Broadway project, DRACULA, THE MUSICAL, which opened on Broadway
at The Belasco Theatre on August 19th.
We'd
like to share some important updates concerning three of Linda's
dear friends, whose interviews have appeared in previous editions
of THE VOICE. Exciting times are on the horizon for the very talented
Kim Scharnberg. His orchestrations for the new musical, LITTLE WOMEN,
will be heard in September and October when this new musical previews
at Duke University. The show will then begin previews on Broadway
on December 2nd at The Virginia Theatre with an opening date set
for January 23, 2005. Best wishes, Kim! Kim has also been busy doing
the orchestrations for the JEKYLL & HYDE Concert as well as
additional orchestrations for DRACULA. And, Kim's been busy producing
and arranging Rob Evan's debut album, which in his words, "is
turning out great!" Eder band members David Finck, Clint DeGanon,
David Mann and Barry Danielian, plus more horns and strings all
participated. Kim's also been working with Jack Murphy, who also
has a lot to report to Linda's fans! They just completed producing
a CD for country/crossover artist Stephanie Diane. The project was
produced in Los Angeles where Stephanie (a huge Linda Eder fan)
is based. This is one of the first projects to be developed by SuRGe
Entertainment, LLC - a record production, music publishing, film
company - that Jack has started with several other partners. Stephanie's
first video "When It Hits Home" was recently completed
and is in the final stages of editing. On the theater front, Jack
is doing a major re-write on the musical SCOTT AND ZELDA: THE OTHER
SIDE OF PARADISE, to be directed by Ann Reinking, as well as more
work on VIENNA - THE LAST WALTZ, now scheduled to debut in Vienna
in either February or March of 2006. Jack is also writing feverishly
away on songs for Linda's next album. As always, if you want to
hear or purchase more of Jack Murphy's music visit www.jackmurphymusic.com
and check it out. And at long last (but certainly not least!) this
past spring, a new Web site was developed for Linda's bassist, David
Finck. We encourage our readers to visit his site at www.davidfinck.net
to learn more about this amazing musician and his career.

We
would like to extend our sympathy to the family and friends of Carl
Anderson, who passed away on February 23, 2004. Carl was a beloved
friend of Linda and will be greatly missed. We will always hold
precious memories of Carl, such as the Once In A Lifetime concert
with Linda and Doug Sills, dear in our hearts.
Our
heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who has contributed in any way
to this edition of THE VOICE.

and health issues of a member of their immediate family, Charlene
Hyman, Editor, and Jack Hyman, Webmaster, are no longer going to
be affiliated with THE VOICE. We would like to thank Charlene and
Jack for their creative input, time and hard work over the past
two years and wish the very best for them and their family.

regards,
