We're
so excited to bring you this Winter 2005 Edition of THE VOICE. We
hope this issue will bring you some pleasure filled hours and help
to fill the remaining long winter days!
We
know Linda's fans are always excited to hear from her. As always,
Linda has written a letter about the many
exciting things that are happening in her career. For sure, "The
Best Is Yet To Come" and won't it be fine!
In
this issue you will get to know Linda's Publicist, Jill
Siegel. While most of Jill's work is done behind the scenes,
she plays a pivotal role in connecting Linda with the public. She's
led a fascinating life with a successful career in Public Relations.
Fans
at Linda's concerts go wild when Barry
Danielian plays the opening notes to "Man of La Mancha."
We know you'll go wild for this interview, where Barry so graciously
shares the story of his musical journey in life. We found Barry
to be a down-to-earth, kind and spiritual person, and we know you
will too.
If
you weren't able to attend the Palace Theatre
Christmas shows (or even if you simply want to relive the experience),
we hope this article will be the next best thing. With a detailed
recap of the evening, celebrity perspective, and a historical look
at the venue and the many stars who have graced its stage, we've
tried to cover it all.
With
all of the hype around reality TV/talent shows, we thought it would
be interesting and perhaps even refreshing to learn more about how
Linda's talent was "discovered" on Star
Search. Linda was kind enough to discuss her time on the show
with THE VOICE. We've also included some fan memories of those special
Sunday evenings about 18 years ago.
Last
year, we enlisted the help of Linda's fans (you!) to help us find
"Ederville" in a little quest
we called, "On the street where you live
" With your
help, we had an amazing journey! We think you will agree that "Ederville"
is the place to be!
One
of the many wonderful qualities of Linda's fan base is that we are
like one big happy family. We'd like to introduce you to a long-time
member of that family, Betty Greenawalt. Betty's
story of meeting Linda and bringing her to The Strand-Capitol
Performing Arts Center truly showcases the sincere and first-class
qualities we've all come to love in Linda.
Also
in this issue, we're proud to share some beautiful creations that
were submitted for the Winter 2005 VOICE
Art Contest, as well as many touching stories we received for
the Holiday 2004 Contest. Once again,
we were overwhelmed by the talents and the outpouring of emotion
from the fans.
We'd
like to bring you up-to-date on the careers of three members of
Linda's team who have been previously featured in THE VOICE.
David
Finck, Linda's gifted Bass player, has been very busy in addition
to appearing with Linda. Early last year, he performed a duo concert
in Germany with Andre Previn. He played at the Chivas Jazz Festival
in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro with Jazz singer Sheila Jordan and
also toured Japan as part of THE GREAT JAZZ TRIO with Hank Jones
on Piano and Jimmy Cobb on Drums. David played some concerts with
Patti Austin in Pennsylvania and Georgia and joined her for several
concerts with The National Symphony. In addition, he can be heard
on Clay Aiken's Christmas album. Please visit David's Web site,
www.davidfinck.net,
for more updates.
Billy
Jay Stein, Linda's talented Keyboardist, continues to write and
produce all the music for MTV's hit show BOILING POINTS. He has
just signed on for another 50 episodes. He is also busy co-writing
and producing a CD with R&B recording artist Malissa Hunter.
Please visit his Web site at www.strangecranium.com
for more updates.
Kim
Scharnberg, who has written some wonderful orchestrations for Linda
over the years, has recently completed the orchestrations for LITTLE
WOMEN, which opened on Broadway on January 23, 2005. Because of
the brilliant acoustic orchestra in the show, he's been getting
quite a bit of press. He was featured in Allegro, the newspaper
of the New York Musicians' Union, and in the Litchfield County
(Connecticut) Times Magazine. Of his efforts in LITTLE WOMEN,
The Wall Street Journal wrote, "Kim Scharnberg, who
has deftly orchestrated Mr. Howland's score for a 13-piece pit band,
deserves special praise for his Tony-worthy efforts." In February,
Kim and Jason Howland will be producing the LITTLE WOMEN cast album
on Sh-K-Boom Records. Kim also has three recording projects coming
up in March. One is with a Trombone quartet (Kim assures us they
won't be wearing Santa outfits!) that he is producing and in which
he has many great composers participating. The second is a string
date for a singer named Anne Barbour with Jeff Lams (CIVIL WAR Musical
Director) producing. And last but certainly not least, Kim is working
on Linda's upcoming album, which he says he is especially looking
forward to. Fans can visit Kim's brand new Web site at www.kimscharnberg.com
for more updates and to read some of the recent press.
