The
first meeting of new Fan Marc Gerrone and Linda
|
|
After
hearing so much about Linda Eder from a friend, I had the
chance to experience her talent first-hand at the Morristown,
New Jersey BROADWAY MY WAY show. Not knowing exactly what
to expect, the show kept my attention with a variety of Linda
Eder originals as well as some Broadway favorites inspired
by her own personality. I hope she succeeds in finding supporters
for CAMILLE CLAUDEL, so she can share the magic of "Gold"
and "What's Never Been Done Before" with Broadway
audiences.
I've
heard people compare Linda's range to that of Barbra Streisand's,
and after hearing Linda's rendition of "Don't Rain On
My Parade," I have to agree. I was a bit surprised, though,
as she stepped into the role of Don Quixote and performed
selections from MAN OF LA MANCHA. I guess that goes to show
the versatility of Linda's talent.
To
top off the evening, I had the chance to meet Linda in person,
collect an autograph and snap this picture. Thanks, Linda.

The
first time I met Linda was at the Westbury Music Fair in July
of 2003. It was an amazing experience! Linda was so down to
earth and very friendly. I was pretty nervous but once I was
talking to Linda, she made me feel very welcome. It was like
talking to a friend and not to the most talented singer alive.
The second time I met Linda was on October 2, 2004 here in
Salt Lake City. Having front row seats, my boyfriend and I
had a perfect view. Linda did such an outstanding job and
she was met with enthusiastic applause and standing ovations
after each song. I was blown away again. After the show, we
went outside to the stage door. We were told she wasn't coming
out. I was disappointed, but I understood that she was busy
and had things to do. However, Linda did come out and even
though she was on her way to the car, she stopped and signed
autographs. We chatted for just a moment, and she said she
remembered me from last year. That made my day! Not only to
see Linda in concert, but to be remembered by her is a very
good thing indeed. As we walked back to our car, Linda smiled
and waved. "Bye!" she said. How cool is that?

| My
name is Samantha, and I am sort of an old fan I guess you can
say. I am only 15, but a singer and musical theatre performer.
I go to a school for the arts. I don't remember how, but I have
had IT'S TIME since I was eight years old. I listened to your
music whenever something bothered me, and your music and voice
helped me through a lot
my mother leaving, moving around
when we where broke, raising my little sister, and even the
exciting things, like getting into my dream high school last
year. JEKYLL & HYDE needless to say is my favorite show,
even though I never saw it on Broadway (I think seeing a prostitute
getting stabbed to death wouldn't be the greatest thing for
a nine year old to see! LOL ;-) ). I want to thank you for the
hope, inspiration and comfort your music has given me. I wish
you luck with CAMILLE CLAUDEL. I am a visual artist and I have
known of Camille for years and want to see her story told! I
paint, but my great-great grandmother (Meta Warrick Fuller)
was a Native-American Harlem Renaissance sculptor. She faced
many challenges. I believe she studied at the same school as
Camille, and I wish I could have known her. I am starting a
teen summer theatre in my town to benefit a charity for abused
children. We are probably doing JEKYLL & HYDE. I hope to
play Lucy, because I couldn't be caught dead as Emma (don't
fit the part at all, and for some reason I always get cast as
the lower class British woman who gets brutally murdered, Mrs.
Lovett in SWEENEY, Nancy in OLIVER... weird. LOL). We have lots
of people behind the project, and I hope that it will come through.
I went to one of your shows at North Shore this year, and your
show at the Melody Tent (where the guy got up during "Don't
Rain On My Parade," and yes it was fabulous). It reminded
me of all of my friends at school. Anyway, I want to say thank
you for everything you have given me. I got through so much
and came out stronger, and I have your music to thank. I hope
that someday at a concert I get to meet you and thank you in
person for everything you have done to help me, and I am sure
other people. I wish you the best of luck with anything and
everything you are going through and wish to pursue. I'm sure
you agree that music can help someone through a lot, and that's
what your music has done for me. Thank you, Linda. |

| I
would like to thank Linda for being so forthright and honest.
In my youth I placed a couple of my favorite singers/actresses
on pedestals and thought they could do no wrong and they had
no problems. As I aged (and aged...) I, of course, realized
that they were human and had the same problems and joys as I,
but they had this incredible talent for me to enjoy. I am so
glad to see Linda communicating to her fans that she appreciates
their support, but she is human and it is a JOB. As it should
be. Fortunately for all of us who love her voice, she continues
to do her JOB! We can all hope that she continues for as long
as she enjoys doing it, which hopefully will be years! She is
far more articulate than I could ever hope to be. I hope to
see her in concert soon. I've seen her 5 times from May 2002
to Dec. 2003 (twice with my granddaughter) and those were the
best times I have had in a long time. Thanks and can't wait
for the new CD. |
I
just felt compelled to thank you personally for a fabulous
show on Saturday night in Marlton where I live. I had never
heard you before but my friend, Dan Levine, let me know he
was coming to town with you. We had him over to our home for
dinner between your sound check and show and we decided to
check you out. Your musicianship and voice control were amazing
and that is from a critical musician. Not since Barbra have
we been so enthralled with a vocal performance. The musicians
you have backing you also were wonderful. I play trombone
with several big bands in the Philly area and we have been
doing your number, "Till You Come Back To Me," for
the past year at concerts and dances. Hope to have the opportunity
to catch you again somewhere. And best of luck with the play.
The tunes you previewed from it were very moving.

Thanks
so much for taking the time after that great concert in Morristown
to sign autographs and take this picture with me. I was totally
captivated by your intense presentation of each song. It must
drain you emotionally to bare your soul with each number.
I believe everyone there felt the power of your emotion. Thanks
for a great evening. I also want to thank you for reaching
out to your fans everywhere. Being able to say hello and get
an autograph or a picture with an entertainer/celebrity such
as yourself is not easy to do in this world. Not many performers
personally communicate with their fans as you do. You have
always been there for us and we always try to be there for
you. When we say we love you, it is a meaningful expression
of adoration which we accept as mutual. We are your adoring
fans and you are our adoring Linda, the entertainer. To us
you are a good person, a friend, a Mommy, and oh yes, a wonderful
performer. Stay as you are and our love will never wane.

I
have been a Linda Eder fan for three years now and have attended
five of her concerts. I have seen the many photos of her with
her fans on her Web site in THE VOICE and have always wished
that someday I too could possibly meet her. Recently I moved
from Las Vegas to Chicago and was at McCarran International
Airport in Las Vegas on Saturday, December 4, 2004, to pick
up my mother to attend Linda's concert that evening. Well,
it was the luckiest day in my life. After looking at the flight
monitors, I turned to my right and Linda was standing there
right next to me! Extraordinary! She was very kind and took
time so I could say hello and take a picture with her
a moment I will always cherish. Thank you, Linda!

The
first time I heard Linda's voice she was singing "Don't
Rain On My Parade" on a Bravo special in 2002. I thought,
"Who is this incredible woman, this amazing voice?!"
I was mesmerized and instantly hooked. Like so many others,
I immediately caught the incurable "Eder-bug." One
year later, when I heard CAMILLE CLAUDEL was being performed
in Connecticut, my friend and I drove down from Boston to
see the show. It was my first live Linda experience. She completely
exceeded any expectations I may have had, and left me sitting
heart filled, teary-eyed, unable to blink, and mouth wide
open at the end. She was perfection as always. After the show
came another unbelievable first ... my first Linda meeting.
When she came out the door, my heart skipped several beats
and the world went into a slow-motion dream. Everyone swarmed
around her for autographs and pictures except me. I was too
terrified to move. Linda started to walk toward me and my
body shut down, rendering me unable to breathe or say anything
intelligent. She looked me right in the eye, and with a big
smile said, "Hi, what's your name?" I managed to
choke it out as she signed my playbill. I was flustered and
completely star struck, and looking at her only made me more
nervous, so I stared at the floor. I thought if I just concentrate
on a spot on the floor, I wouldn't say anything stupid. Linda
put her hand on my shoulder and told me not to be nervous.
I looked up at her and she gave me a big hug. She made me
feel like we were old friends. I told her she was amazing.
It was the only thing I could manage to say. I was so overwhelmed
by the extreme kindness and warmth this consummate woman exhibited.
I teared up and she told me I was beautiful. I will never
forget how down to earth Linda was, and how she really cares
about her fans. Nor will I forget that incredible evening,
or the way she made me feel at my first Linda experience.
I can't express what Linda means to me in words, but she has
a supporter for life in me. Thank you for everything Linda,
but mostly for just being you!
